Small Business Coaching on How to Turn Words Into Serious Cash

By Allison Babb

In my small business coaching, clients are typically solo entrepreneurs who sell a professional service.  They’re usually hyper-focused on getting clients.  Nothing wrong with that, but there’s only so many hours in the day to book clients, right?

When you’re all booked up with appointments, you cap out on how much money you can earn.  Then what?  How do you increase your income?  Well there are LOTS of different ways, but in this article, I’ll show you how I’ve turned words into thousands of dollars in my business, and how you can as well:

Reach the world

If you’ve never written an article on your expertise, it’s time to start.  And don’t get all overwhelmed with the thought of doing so either.  Sit down and brainstorm 10-20 questions you’ve been asked repeatedly by your own clients, and bingo, you have articles or tips you can publish.

How does that turn into cash?  My articles are all over the internet, they bring visitors to my website, who then turn into clients or customers later on.  Because I electronically track how people come to me, I can see exactly how many dollars came from those articles.  (words = thousands)  I use GreatSmallBusinessCart.com to track everything.  I use GreatSmallBusinessArticleSubmit.com to automate article publishing but you can also manually submit articles to places like EzineArticles.com.

Connect with your list

You’re reading an Ezine (electronic newsletter).  Why not create one for the people on your contact list?  The same articles I put all over the internet are my weekly Ezine articles.  The entrepreneurs on my list are the primary readers of my Ezine, they see my expertise, become interested in what I have to offer, check out my products and services, and later turn into clients and customers.  And you can do the same.

My Ezine is weekly but yours can be just twice per month.  I recommend at least twice per month and stay consistent with that.  I use GreatSmallBusinessCart.com to publish my Ezine, but ConstantContact.com is another great tool for Ezine publishing.

Transform your knowledge:

I’ll remind you the clients aren’t the only way to bring in cash.  Write down the advice or consulting you give to people, put it into a binder, write an eBook, record it on downloadable audio, or audio CD, put it into video, etc.  The possibilities are truly endless.

And no, you won’t decrease the number of clients you get simply by creating an information product.  In fact, you gain customers because you increase your offerings.  People who would normally walk away from your consulting, coaching, service, etc., because of price concerns for example, would not be lost revenue.  They can opt to have an affordable alternative in your audio program or eBook etc.  It’s your same expertise… just transformed into other formats.

So take a step back and re-evaluate who you are and what you do.  Then re-create yourself in words or audio to expand your reach, your products, and your services.  You’ll be amazed at how much extra cash is just waiting to come your way simply by turning your expertise into words.
